Thanks to Greg Fine, CAE at WOMMA for pointing me to this article about Baby Boomers and volunteering. Short excerpt:
The future of volunteering is upon us, and oddly enough, it looks a lot like paid work. The baby boomer generation is dipping its toe into retirement, and organizations hoping to recruit them will want to appeal to their preferences by adopting a more professional volunteer process, advised Curtis Hammond, a volunteer coordinator at Missoula Aging Services. Hammond said if he gives a member of the baby boomer generation a volunteer application, nine times out of 10 it comes back with a resume attached. Boomers take their work - even their volunteer work - very seriously, and they expect a similar degree of professionalism from the organizations where they volunteer, he explained.
