Best news from the ASAE Annual Meeting

As great as the Annual Meeting was, there was one bit of news that, for me, stood out from the rest.

Banff is Back!
During the leadership breakfast, ASAE & the Center announced that the Banff Scholarship for Emerging Leaders would be returning. A few months ago, I posted about my experience of applying for the Banff Scholarship, winning it and actually going to the Banff Centre. It was a life-altering experience for me, and my leadership skills are benefiting substantially. I've known other people who have won the scholarship and have experienced similar results. It is a world-class program, and I am even taking steps to emulate it in the association I work for. Furthermore, I'm considering going back to the Banff Centre for continued professional development.

It would seem the Banff Scholarship got lost in the shuffle during the ASAE/Center merger, but I couldn't be more delighted to learn that it will continue being offered. It is one of a few things ASAE and the Center are doing very well when it comes to emerging leaders.

Consider this my standing ovation!

Hot damn! I might be just as excited to hear this as you are. I too was worried that this would be one of the things killed in the merger.

I went back last year about this time for a weekend workshop and it was just as good as the first time.

Emerging leaders in the association community need this opportunity and congrats to ASAE and the Center for continuing to recognize this. Anyone know who specifically we can thank?

I thought you would appreciate that, Chris. Making a phone call to ASAE/Center to learn more is on my to do list. I would assume that, from a vendor perspective, Ava Sones at the Canadian Tourism Commission is deserving of some of the thanks.
